R-0077 at $1,050 is the lowest priced ring on this page and one of the lowest priced rings in the whole house collection. At the other end, R-0062 at $8,500 lists 7.04 carats total, the heaviest marquise we carry. The middle three sit between 2.08 and 2.50 carats total where weights are listed.

Why a marquise looks bigger

A marquise spreads its weight along a long outline instead of down into the stone. A 1 carat marquise measures roughly 10 by 5 millimeters, while a 1 carat round is about 6.5 millimeters across. On the hand that means the marquise covers more finger for the same weight, and it makes the finger look longer and slimmer. If size per dollar is your goal, this is the shape that stretches it furthest.

Ratio, bow-tie and symmetry

  • Ratio. Length divided by width. Around 1.75 to 2.25 is the usual range. Lower looks fat; higher looks like a needle. Pick by eye, not by a single number.
  • Bow-tie. Most marquise stones show a darker band across the middle. A light one is normal. A heavy one steals light, so look at the stone in person or on video.
  • Symmetry. The two points should line up, and the two curved sides should mirror each other.

Protect both points

A marquise has two tips, and both can chip if they take a hit. The fix is simple: V-shaped prongs or bezel tips over each point. Check the prongs every few months, the same way you would on any ring you wear daily. Our guide on how often to check prongs walks through it.

E VS1 on a long stone

The points of a marquise are where a warm stone shows color first. Starting at E color, the second-whitest grade on GIA's scale, keeps the tips white. VS1 clarity means any inclusion takes effort to find under 10x magnification, so the stone looks clean on the hand. See E color VS1 diamond rings for the full grade chart.

Marquise or pear

Both are long brilliant shapes. The marquise has two points and a sharper, more vintage look; the pear has one point and one round end, which reads softer. We carry eight pear rings and five marquise rings, so the side-by-side is easy to do in the showroom. The full breakdown, with sizes and prices, is in marquise vs pear.

Gold choices for a marquise

Three of the five marquise rings are 14K white gold, which keeps the long outline crisp and the E color stone at its whitest. R-0009 is the 14K yellow option at $2,600, and yellow suits the shape's vintage feel. R-0052 is in 10K white gold at $3,200, the harder alloy, with 2.08 carats total. If you are torn between metals, yellow vs white gold lays out the trade.

How a marquise sits on the finger

The classic way is north-south: the long side runs along the finger, which makes the hand look longer and slimmer. Some people turn it sideways, east-west, for a modern look that sits low across the finger. Both work. A marquise also pairs well with side stones, because the two points lead the eye out to the band. A ring like R-0062, with 7.04 carats total, uses that weight to cover the finger from side to side.

Questions people ask

How much is a marquise lab diamond ring?

Our marquise rings run from $1,050 to $8,500. R-0062, at 7.04 carats total, is the top of the range.

Does a marquise diamond look bigger than a round?

Yes. A 1 carat marquise is roughly 10 by 5 millimeters, while a 1 carat round is about 6.5 millimeters wide, so the marquise covers more finger.

Do marquise diamonds chip easily?

The two points are the weak spots. V-prongs or bezel tips over each point protect them, and a prong check every few months keeps them safe.

Are your marquise rings lab-grown?

Yes. All five are lab-grown diamonds graded E color, VS1 clarity, and each listing says lab-grown.
