Diamond Bracelets

The short answer

Diamond bracelets take more knocks than necklaces, so setting style and clasp security matter as much as the diamonds. Franky Diamonds' diamond bracelets run from a $485 14K evil eye bracelet to a $9,000 lab diamond house bracelet with 26.6 carats, graded E color, VS1.

Why the setting matters most on the wrist

A wrist hits desks, doors and car consoles all day. Prongs that stick up catch on fabric and take knocks; a bezel, a smooth gold rim around each stone, protects the edge and is the safest choice for daily wear. That is why the Classic Diamond Bezel Bracelet uses bezels. Pavé sets many tiny stones low and close, which also wears well. Fully set bracelets hold each stone individually and should be checked every few months for loose settings, especially if you wear them every day.

How to measure your wrist

Measure just below the wrist bone with a soft tape, then add about half an inch for a snug fit or an inch for a comfortable one. A diamond bracelet that is too loose slides over the hand and takes more knocks; too tight and the clasp strains. The Classic Diamond Bezel Bracelet sits on an adjustable chain. Clasp types and safety

Fine diamond charm bracelets close with a lobster or an adjustable slider. Fully set bracelets usually close with a box clasp, and that clasp should have a safety latch on the side, ideally with a second figure-eight latch. Sources disagree on how secure a box clasp is by itself, which is exactly why the latch matters.

Diamond quality and origin

The lab diamond house bracelets are graded E color, the second-highest color grade on GIA's scale, and VS1 clarity, which looks clean to the naked eye. Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds; the FTC requires the origin to be disclosed, and each title says "Lab Diamond". The 14K bracelets list total carat weight. Some pair diamonds with sapphires, rubies or a colored evil eye, and the description says so. See what VVS diamonds are and how to spot fake diamonds.

Pairing with a watch

A diamond bracelet next to a watch can scratch the watch case and the bracelet alike. If you stack them, match metals and keep the bracelet slimmer than the watch. Otherwise, wear them on opposite wrists. A fine diamond charm bracelet stacks more easily than a fully set one.

Care and where to see them

Clean with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush behind the stones, then dry with a lint-free cloth. Take diamond bracelets off before the gym, the beach and the pool. Every order ships insured. The lab diamond bracelets are showroom pieces at the showroom at 7900 NW 27th Ave, Unit 506, Miami FL 33147. For the iced side, see iced out bracelets, iced out jewelry and the iced out buying guide. Questions people ask

How do I find my bracelet size?

Measure your wrist below the bone and add half an inch for snug or an inch for comfort. A 6.5 inch wrist usually wears a 7 to 7.5 inch bracelet.

Can I wear diamond bracelets with a watch?

Yes, with matching metals and a slimmer bracelet, but diamonds can scratch a watch case. Many people wear them on opposite wrists.

What clasp do your bracelets use?

Charm bracelets use lobster or adjustable closures. Fully set bracelets typically use a box clasp; look for a safety latch.
