Lab Diamond Necklaces
Lab diamond necklaces use real diamonds grown in a lab, so you get the same fire and hardness as a mined diamond at a lower price per carat. Franky Diamonds' lab diamond necklaces are one-of-a-kind house pieces in 10K and 14K gold, graded E color, VS1 clarity, from $4,200 to $8,950.

Which shape suits which wearer
- Round: the most sparkle per stone and the classic tennis look. Easy to wear with anything.
- Heart: romantic and unmistakable. A gift piece that reads from across the room.
- Marquise: long, pointed stones that make a line look longer and more dramatic.
- Mixed: several shapes combined, usually round with baguettes or pears, for a jewelry-box look with more texture.
Round lab necklaces also give the best price per carat in this group: the 30 carat round necklace works out to about $298 per carat, gold included.
Diamond quality explained
Every house necklace here is graded E color and VS1 clarity. On GIA's scale, E is the second-highest color grade, nearly colorless. VS1 means small inclusions that are hard to spot even at 10x magnification; GIA notes VS and VVS stones usually look alike to the naked eye. On a necklace with dozens of stones, a consistent E across all of them is what makes the line look bright and even. Mismatched color is the giveaway of a cheap diamond necklace.
Lab vs natural, and certificates
A lab-grown diamond is real diamond: the same carbon crystal, the same hardness of 10, the same light performance. The FTC requires sellers to disclose lab-grown origin clearly and bars calling it "natural". Most lab-grown diamonds sold in the US are graded by IGI, and GIA also grades lab-grown stones. Grading reports are not printed on these product pages, so ask before buying if you want one. See GIA vs IGI, are lab diamonds real and the lab-grown guide.
Lengths, metal and layering
On most women, 16 inches sits above the collarbone, 18 on it and 20 just below. A fully set diamond necklace often looks best at 16 or 17 inches, close to the neck, where the whole line is visible. Most of these pieces are white gold, which keeps white diamonds looking icy. Layer a lab diamond necklace with a plain gold chain 2 inches longer for contrast, or wear it alone. A single-stone option sits at solitaire necklaces.
Wearing a fully set necklace day to day
A necklace set with diamonds all the way around is tougher than it looks, because each stone is held on its own. Two habits keep it that way: take it off for the gym and the pool, where knocks and chlorine are the risks, and put it on after lotion and perfume, not before. Lay it flat in a lined box when you are not wearing it.
Care, pricing and where to see them
Clean with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, working behind the settings, then dry flat. Store it flat and clasped, apart from other pieces. Check the clasp latch and settings every few months. Lab diamond prices have dropped sharply in recent years; see diamond prices in 2026. The same grading logic applies to rings, covered in the lab diamond engagement ring guide. Questions people ask
What length necklace should I choose?
A fully set diamond necklace usually looks best at 16 to 18 inches, close to the collarbone, where the whole line shows.
Are the diamonds certified?
Each house piece lists lab-grown origin, E color and VS1 clarity. Grading reports are not printed on product pages, so ask before buying if you want one.
Is 14K gold good for everyday wear?
Yes. 14K is 58.3 percent gold and holds settings well. 10K, used on some house pieces, is harder and costs less.
