Natural Diamond Jewelry: Mined Diamonds in Rings, Pendants and Watches
Natural diamonds formed in the earth over millions of years and are mined. They cost more than lab-grown stones of the same grade and keep more value on resale. Franky Diamonds' natural pieces include E color, VS1 rings from $1,200, natural diamond pendants from $5,800 to $9,500 in 10K gold, and diamond-set luxury watches.

What natural means and what it costs
Under the FTC Jewelry Guides, natural, real and genuine describe mined diamonds; lab-grown stones need a clear qualifier. Natural costs more because supply is limited. Our own case shows the gap: Round Natural Diamond Ring 4.25 ct, 14K Yellow Gold ($6,000) next to Round Lab Diamond Ring 4.62 ct, 14K Yellow Gold ($2,800), similar weight and grade. The natural ring is more than double the price.
Why people still choose natural
- Rarity. Each natural stone is a one-off from the earth.
- Resale. Natural diamonds resell for more than lab stones, though well below retail.
- Heirlooms. Many families want a mined stone for a piece meant to be passed down.
Natural is not a guaranteed store of value: the IDEX natural diamond index fell 11.5% from March 2025 to March 2026. Buy it because you value it. More in our natural diamond guide and lab vs natural diamonds.
Grades on our natural pieces
Our natural house pieces are graded E color, VS1 clarity. In plain words: E is the second-whitest grade on GIA's D-to-Z color scale, so the diamond looks icy white even next to white paper. VS1 means the diamond has small inclusions that a trained grader finds with effort under 10x magnification; with the naked eye it looks clean.
For natural diamonds that is a high grade: only D is whiter, and only VVS, IF and FL are cleaner. Current market prices are tracked in diamond prices 2026.
Gold karat options
Our natural rings use 14K and 18K gold. The natural pendants use 10K gold, including two-tone designs that mix white and yellow. 10K is 41.7% gold and the hardest common karat, which suits a heavy pendant that swings and knocks.
Custom natural pieces
Want a natural stone in a ring, pendant or pair of studs that is not in the case? Custom work starts with your idea, then the design and exact price before anything is made, then we make and deliver it. For a natural center of a carat or more, ask for a GIA or IGI report.
Natural diamonds in watches
Several luxury watches in our case carry natural diamonds on the dial or bezel, and they are listed as natural. Watch listings show the case size, dial and metal. If you are shopping diamond watches, read each listing's details and ask about the specific piece in the showroom. Start at watches.
Caring for natural diamond pieces
Natural diamonds are as hard as lab ones, so care is the same: warm soapy water, a soft toothbrush, a lint-free cloth. Pendants collect lotion behind the stones, so soak them a few minutes before brushing. Check the bail and the prongs a few times a year, and store each piece in its own pouch. Insure valuable natural pieces on a scheduled jewelry rider.
